The general idea:

Matthew 22: 37-40,
37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with - all - thy heart, and with - all - thy soul, and with - all - thy mind.
38. This is the first and great commandment.
39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

And this is how you get to the secret place described in Matthew 22: 37-40,

Psalm 91:1 (Ampl.)
1. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty.

Materials that are needed for the demonstration:
1. One small bowl about the size of a large soup bowl.
2. A larger bowl or small bucket full of something soft and easy to pour like sand, or rice.
3. Something to represent the Devil, it must have length, width and thickness like a small doll or even and drawing on a thick piece of cardboard.
4. A straight edge or a ruler or straight stick.

Object Lesson:

Have you ever wondered why you have a hard time keeping your mind under control. It seems to wonder over to sin even when you are trying to be Godly and follow God's Word with the fullness of your heart. It all comes from not having every corner of your heart and mind centered on and filler with God. The Word says that Christ was the only perfect person. He was fully centered on and led by the Father. It is an area where all of us have to continually grow.

Matthew 22: 37-40,
37.Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38.This is the first and great commandment.
39.And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

(DEMONSTRATION)   Take the small bowl and put the Devil (doll) in the bowl.

The bowl represents your mind. Notice that the Devil (doll) easily fits in the bowl when there is nothing else in the bowl. If your not saved God does not live in you. There is plenty of room in you for the Devil to play with your mind because God is not in you to help you fight back.

(DEMONSTRATION)   Take the Devil (doll) out and pour some of the fill (sand/rice) into the bowl

Once you get saved the Devil is thrown out of your heart and God starts to fill you with His Word. But as a baby Christian, there is still a lot room in your mind that is not filled with the Word and the Devil tries to influence your mind (from outside) in any place or part of your mind he can. He tries to influence you into committing a sin.

(DEMONSTRATION)   Place the Devil (doll) into the bowl on top of the (sand/rice). Take the straight edge and show that the Devil (doll) is partly inside the bowl by placing the straight edge across the top of the bowl and showing the part of the Devil (doll) is in the bowl and part is outside of the bowl. When you finish this part of the demonstration remove the Devil (doll) from the bowl and almost fill the bowl with (sand/rice). Then place the Devil (doll) back into the Bowl. Once again use the straight edge across the top of the bowl showing that there is very little influence from the Devil because you are almost completely filled with God and His Word. And finally fill the bowl completely full and show that the Devil cannot influence your life at all because your life is full of life (God) and there is no room for sin and death.

And the Word says:

Matthew 22: 37-40,
37.Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38. This is the first and great commandment.
39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets

If you truly fill yourself with God there is no room for the Devil's influence. And once you reach that level of love you will want to help your neighbor reach that kind of relationship with God too, because you will understand how special that relationship is.

And this is how you get to the secret place described in Psalm 91:1

Psalm 91:1 (Ampl.)
1. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty.
